A few well-chosen styling parts can make a standard Mercedes-Benz look like a higher-spec AMG model. The most popular upgrades are a GTR-style grille, a gloss black boot spoiler, a front lip splitter and an AMG-style rear diffuser. This guide explains each one and how to make sure it suits your car.
Start with your model code
Mercedes parts are made for a specific chassis code, not just a model name. A C-Class from 2012 (W204) and one from 2016 (W205) need different parts. The code is on your build plate and in your service book. Common codes are:
- A-Class: W176 (2013–2018), W177 (2018 onwards)
- CLA: W117 (2013–2019), W118 (2019 onwards)
- C-Class: W204 (2007–2014), W205 (2014–2021), W206 (2021 onwards)
- E-Class: W211, W212 (2009–2016), W213 (2016 onwards)
- SUVs: GLA, GLC (X253 and C253 coupe) and GLE (W167, C167 and C292 coupe)
Also check whether your car has the standard bumper or the AMG Line bumper, as many lip splitters and diffusers only fit one of them.
The four most popular upgrades
GTR-style grille
The vertical-bar GTR-style grille is the signature look of modern AMG models. It replaces the factory grille and changes the whole front end. Choose gloss black for a stealth look, or chrome and black for more contrast. Check whether your car has a front camera or distance sensor in the grille.
Boot spoiler or wing
A gloss black boot spoiler adds a sharp edge to the rear of a sedan or coupe. AMG-style spoilers are subtle, while Carlsson and PSM styles are a little bolder. Most use strong automotive tape, so no drilling is needed.
Front lip splitter
A lip splitter fits under the front bumper and makes the car look lower and wider. Make sure you choose the right one for your bumper type.
AMG-style rear diffuser
A diffuser fills the lower rear bumper and gives the back of the car a sportier finish. It is often paired with exhaust tips.
